Who’s Winning the World Cup? Advertisers.

Project Image

While the United States Men’s National Team’s World Cup dreams came crashing down this week, the World Cup has been a big winner for brands.

Through the first three weeks of the event, the average attention index for marketers across Fox networks was 121, which is 21% higher than the average score, according to iSpot. Nationally, the big winners have been Home Depot, Wells Fargo, Nike, Bank of America, and Google, who deployed knockout round worthy campaigns attracting attention.

It would be a shame if our blog did not give love to Rexona, who absolutely did NOT let us down. The campaign packaged Beatlemania with pitvertising and is brilliant.

Live sports continue to create moments that are hard to replicate anywhere else. Locally, 1123 clients Godfather’s Pizza & Re-Bath got in on the action. Both brands appeared in the pregame shows for Mexico vs. South Africa Group Stage game and Portugal vs. Croatia match in the Round of 32. We see the World Cup as a shared cultural event and an opportunity to meet audiences when, and where, attention is at its highest. Live sports placements aren’t new for Godfather’s Pizza or Re-Bath. Both have had the strategy woven into their television buys for multiple years. Where is your brand’s place in the arena? Let’s connect to discuss. Reach out at info@weare1123.com
